1000W Grid Tie System

Energy Liberators can now offer state of the art “grid-tie” systems whereby the power produced by the wind turbine is used to offset the cost of the mains-supplied electricity.

 

These systems are based around a high quality wind turbine rated at 1KW (but capable of producing in excess of 1.4KW). When combined with the German-made SMA WindyBoy grid tie inverter, this turbine is capable of contributing very significant savings to electricity users.

Note: All of our turbines are designed to be installed on standalone towers. We don't sell rooftop turbines as rooftop turbines are ineffective and may damage your home.

Key Features
  • the 1KW 48v turbine is capable of producing well over its rated 1000 watts. Its power curve is here
  • the turbine is mounted on its own standalone 6-8 meter winched up tower. Unlike cheaper systems, this gives it a far better chance of catching the available wind.
  • unlike cheaper turbines, this turbine has a furling tail. This is a very important safety feature as it means that the turbine automatically turns out of the wind during gales that may damage it
  • the turbine has balanced blades. This is extremely rare at this price, but it means that the turbine is far less likely to experience harsh, damaging vibrations at high speeds
  • the inverter used in this system is the SMA Windy Boy. This is the best grid tie inverters on the market and unlike cheaper ones, can operate at a very wide range of input voltages. Cheap inverters only operate within a very small voltage range and thus only produce power when the wind is blowing within a very small range
  • The Windy Boy can be the center of an extensible RE system. For instance:
    • one WindyBoy can support two turbines -or- one turbine and several solar PV panels
    • several WindyBoys can be connected together in a network to produce an even larger more powerful system
    • the WindyBoy supports the optional Sunny Beam data acquisition system that can display and log data regarding the operation of the system
  • the whole system has been extensively tested in high wind areas in Scotland.

Pricing

The basic system including the wind turbine, voltage controllers and the grid tie inverter costs €3950 (incl VAT)

A custom made winched up 6 or 8 meter tower costs €1784 (incl VAT)

Installation costs depend upon you site. However they are typically in the range €1000 to €3000. Please note that installations must be carried out by qualified professionals. No self installs are permitted under ESBN rules.
